Recondition Yourself for Success

• When you were a child, your ignorance produced great dreams of success; you wanted to be an astronaut, a firefight, a policman, a doctor, all possible and great things.

• However, over time, society beat you down and taught you to "think more realistically", to throw away those dreams and adopt "more logical ones."

• There are three kinds of people who react to these claims:

  1. Those who surrendered completely
     • These people rationalize themselves into a rut, convinicing their conscience that they are truly happy with the position they are at.
     • However, the multitude of supressive influences just convinced those people that they couldn't do anything, so why even try.
     • They are equivalent to those who wander aimlessly, hoping success will hit them in the face through the blowing wind.
  2. Those who surrendered partially
     • These people enter adult life with hope for success; they have big dreams, and want to pursue them.
     • However, over time, life beats them down and they start to think, "I'm happy now, so I why should I try to improve?"
  3. Those who never surrender
     • These people never let pessimism dictate nor do they ever surrender to surpressive situations.
     • They live and breath success; these people become top of their fields, and emanate passion and glory.
     • Everyone wants to be like this.

• When you make a big claim, you will get one of two reactions:

  1. If you make your claim to your peers, you will often get a sarcastic response, indicative of the belief that you are joking.
  2. If you make your claim to someone who is living that claim or is above that claim, you will recieve a pensive, thoughful response asking whether you really mean this and what you're doing to achieve it.
  • Surround yourself with people who give you the latter. They know it's not impossble because they've already done it.

• The people who tell you it cannot be done most often belong to the mediocre or unsuccesful; the opinions of these people can be poison.

• Study negators, and never let them destroy your plans for success.

Seek Advice From People Who Know

• You are judged by the company you keep; birds of a feather do flock together.

• The negative remarks made at you are often just merely a projection of the speaker's own feeling of failure and discouragement.

• Make sure to be careful about your sources of advice; you don't want to be taking advice from someone who is at the bottom and will stay at the bottom, because they'll just give you their negative methods, even if they think those methods are good.

• Go first class when you have questions; only seek advice from those who know and those who can show it.

• What happens during non-work hours directly affects your performance during work time.
