• Executives always look for a man of action; anyone can generate key ideas, but can they act on them? That is the difference.

• "Nothing comes merely by thinking about it."

• The man of action gets the things that he wants to get done done, while the passive man does not.

• Perfectionism can sometimes prevent anything from happening; the test of a successful person is not to eliminate all problems before they arise, it is to meet and work out difficulties when they do appear.

• When you resolve to take action, your mind will think of ways to accomplish that goal.

• Do not wait until conditions are perfect to act:

  1. Expect future obstacles and difficulties. Everything has risk.
     1. Imagine if you waited to drive to school until there was absolutely no risk. You would never get out of the driveway.
  2. Meet problems and obstacles as they arise.

• When you act on your ideas, you give them value and you gain mental tranquility.

  • You will never think, "I should have, could have, would have..."

• Action is the best way to cure fear; if you dread doing something, that dread will disappear as soon as you begin doing it.

• Nothing starts itself; action precedes action.

  • If you can't seem to write, then write anything that comes to mind, no matter how bad, and your engine will start.

• Use the mechanical way to accomplish simple but sometimes unpleasant business and chores. Instead of thinking of how unpleasant the task will be, get up and do it quickly.

  • Throw yourself out of bed, don't even question or reason with it.

• Use this mechanical way to create ideas; rather than waiting for the spirit to move you, you move the spirit.

• Don't put things off; if you have an idea, do it now. Do not wait.

• Do not spend too much time "getting ready" for action, just act. People make this mistake often, they spend so much time trying to organize or set up their workspace before working. Just work.

1. Be a crusader; when you see something that should be done, simply pick up the ball and run.
2. Be a volunteer; always be the first to raise your hand and ask a question or enter yourself into a situation.
